Camping with a Twist

Have you ever been camping?

I have been camping, but as I said in the title, what a twist it had. When I was young, my parents were part of a gun club, and they would do competitions. These competitions also involved dress up and tent setups from period times not modern. It was so much fun, and we would stay in the modern campsite with our tent, air mattresses and sleeping bags. There were even shops, like a candy store. Years later, I am just now realizing that the one gentleman that sold burlap buckets also made his own moonshine. He called it "Apple Jack." I was 10, so I thought he was talking about cereal. It is amazing what happens when you look back on old memories. The sad thing is, it was also a time when I got along with Jim (my legal father). I was young and dumb. I don't get along with him anymore, as you all know. But this story is not about that. Anyway, those days were fun. We would build a fire, sleep in the tent, even in the rain, and we would go down to the crick to swim. I'm getting warm feelings about this. One of the few times that I was happy. Remind me to tell you about another time I slept in a tent.
