ADHD, or "Ooh Shiny"

I am not sure how to go about this, but when you suffer from the aforementioned disorder, it is easy to get sidetracked.

Let me explain. For those of you that are of my ilk, it is not completely impossible to hold down a job or "try" to have a somewhat normal life, but it is also not easy. When you have ADHD, it can be a bit of a pill trying to stick to the tasks at hand.

I work at a fast-food place, and 9/10 times I am constantly losing track of what I am supposed to be doing. I could be going to the stock room and forgetting why I need to be going back there in the first place, at least until I forcefully jog my memory.

I always say "If you can't laugh at yourself." This means I am always making jokes about my foibles. I will randomly make jokes about getting distracted by saying either "Squirrel!?" or "Ooh Shiny!!" and then I start laughing. If someone I'm currently serving has a good sense of humor, then I know that they will have a better day if they leave with a laugh.

That's the thing about something like this. Have fun with what you got. No one has the same personality as the next person. We're all different, each in our own special way. If we were, the world would be a boring place. And don't let anyone tell you you're weird. If someone tells you that, just tell them "I'm not weird, I'm gifted." It takes the sting out of it, and you may get a laugh.

So go get down with your "weird" self. Have some fun with it. Who knows what could happen? You may just be surprised.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to work on my crochet project and try to take in the beautiful day.

And as always, small victories and fluffy bunnies.

Slainte.
