Knowledge vs. Wisdom
All right, dearies. Time to have a little chat. I am wondering .
Knowledge and Wisdom are two items that are always important. But they are not the same thing.
According to Dictionary.com, knowledge is defined as such:
knowl·edge [nol-ij] noun 1. acquaintance with facts, truths, or principles, as from study or investigation; general erudition: knowledge of many things. 2. familiarity or conversance, as with a particular subject or branch of learning: A knowledge of accounting was necessary for the job. 3. acquaintance or familiarity gained by sight, experience, or report: a knowledge of human nature. 4. the fact or state of knowing; the perception of fact or truth; clear and certain mental apprehension. 5. awareness, as of a fact or circumstance: He had knowledge of her good fortune.
So, based on all that, knowledge is gained when you learn new things from studying.
Whereas, wisdom is defined as this:
wis·dom [wiz-duhm] noun 1. the quality or state of being wise; knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgment as to action; sagacity, discernment, or insight. 2. scholarly knowledge or learning: the wisdom of the schools. 3. wise sayings or teachings; precepts. 4. a wise act or saying. 5. ( initial capital letter ) Douay Bible. Wisdom of Solomon.
So, based on that, wisdom is knowing when to use something that you may learn.
Now the question is, how does one apply to the other? Well, being a magickal youngling has its advantages and disadvantages. You want to learn new things, aka knowledge, by studying your craft. Used in the right way can help you become better, with that being a wise decision to use it for good. However, when you use your new knowledge in the wrong way, or unwisely, you can end up with a very sticky mess.
What I am now touching upon, or broaching, is the subject of the Threefold law. We will get into that at a later time. For now, just know that using magick unwisely can cost you greatly. Keep that in mind when you are furthering your craft. Laters y'all.
