The Homeless Chronicles
Let me start off by saying that this has been a long time coming. It was a few years back where we were homeless once before, living in a tent on the side of a river when it was bitterly cold in the middle of blizzards. That was rough, but we got through it, the hubbeast and I, although he and I were not married yet. Many years later, we are married and prospects seem grim, but it is warm, so it is different. That being said, let me update you on our story.
The Countdown
Homelessness was inevitable. It was just only a matter of time. We were staying at a local motel and the management wanted us out, due to some ensuing drama. We were doing our best to keep up with rent, though times started getting tough. The eviction was served, and they we promptly appealed the decision, which pissed them off. We even went out of our way to pay them rent after appealing, but they were like "you were supposed to be out, so we are not taking your money." Six or so months later, they got their wish. I should have been trying to make every attempt to purge everything in our possession so when that day came, we wouldn't have had to worry about things holding us up. Alas, the best laid plans of mice and men. I am not very motivated on most days, so unfortunately, I goofed up. Luckily, we have a storage unit for our things, so no big deal.
Weekend Leading to Eviction Day
So that weekend was horrendous. I had to work all weekend, so there was not a lot of time to get things done. Having a car would have helped, but as I haven't had a vehicle in a couple of years, we were kind of stuck. Luckily, we had help from my mother. She can attest to what happened those two days (Saturday, Sunday). I am so glad that she was there. Hell, I don't know what I would ever do without her, regardless of whatever sitch I have found myself in, or got myself into (the latter happens more often than the former...yikes).
So that is the recap of our chronicles leading up to Day 1. I have to admit, it has been an interesting turn of events. Not enough to make a movie about it, but who knows what can happen.
